چکیده

Abstract Background To compare plasma fatty acids (FAs) between participants with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and without neuropathy in an elderly population to investigate specific FAs pattern POAG. Methods We conducted a population-based study older than 75 years. Participants underwent comprehensive eye examination optic nerve photographs, visual field test OCT RNFL thickness measurement. Glaucomatous status was defined according the International Society for Epidemiologic Geographical Ophthalmology classification. Lipids were extracted from methylesters prepared analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Results Among 1153 of Montrachet 810 retained analysis 68 had The mean age 82.11 ± 3.67. In multivariable levels not different POAG controls ( P = 0.078). A characterized high negative weight gamma-linoleic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid polyunsaturated (PUFAs), Cis-7 hexadecenoic monounsaturated (MUFAs) positive eicosadienoic docosatetraenoic docosapentaenoic n-6, alpha linoleic PUFAs, eicosenoic MUFAs, margaric behenic saturated positively associated After adjustment major confounders, individuals upper tertile scores compared those lower more likely present (OR 3.09 [95% CI 1.29–7.40] 0.013). Conclusions found no significant difference regarding isolated but might be

Primary open-angle glaucoma

 Primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) is an idiopathic disorder in which the resistance to outflow through the trabecular meshwork gradually increases and the intraocular pressure (IOP) rises, causing irreversible damage to the optic nerve  POAG is the second most common cause of vision loss in the U.S.  Usually asymptomatic until advanced visual field loss has occurred; less than 50% of those...

Association between p53 Codon 72 (Arg72Pro) Polymorphism and Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma in Iranian Patients

Background: Glaucomatous neuropathy is a type of cell death due to apoptosis. The p53 gene is one of the regulatory genes of apoptosis. Recently, the association between the p53 gene encoding for proline at codon 72 and primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) has been studied in some ethnic groups. This study is the first association analysis of POAG and p53 codon 72 polymorphism in Iranian patients...
